A Better Life Social Wellbeing Service offers social and practical support opportunities. The opportunities are focused on providing friendly companionship as well as enriching your life through, for example, doing something you enjoy, learning something new, connecting you with people or information, or helping you overcome a practical difficulty at home.

We understand that everyone is different, and we will be led by you and your choices. We will plan your social or practical support opportunities with you to ensure that you get the most out of your time with us.

If you fancy some company at home, we can do what you like to do with you. For example:

  • Eat or have coffee with you
  • Watch television together
  • Topical discussions, chats and chuckles
  • Time to talk: emotional wellbeing
  • Sitting in quiet companionship

Sometimes there is nothing better than getting out of the house. We can help you to find your new favourite place to go, or try lots of options. For example:

  • Accompany you to a club or group for the first time
  • Trips/shopping/activities/entertainment
  • Visit friends or relatives
  • Go out for coffee or lunch
  • GP appointments
  • Go for a local walk

If you need a little help around the home, or support to find information about other services, we can help. For example:

  • Help with phone calls, appointments, paperwork, etc.
  • Light meal preparation, housekeeping, laundry, gardening
  • Basic coaching in how to use a mobile phone or other gadget
  • Help you find a local club/group/social get-together
  • Link you with a trusted handyperson for small repairs
  • Link you with information about other care or support services

If your energy or confidence is low or you’ve got out of practice with some everyday tasks following illness or a stay in hospital, let us help you to feel more like yourself again with:

  • Short term supported daily living skills practice and enablement
  • Supported confidence building activities, at your own pace, plus
  • Our Practical Support at home and Social Wellbeing Opportunities
  • Take a regular break from your caring role
  • Recharge and enjoy some time for yourself
  • We can offer opportunities or support (but not personal care) for people with different needs.

Regular friendly, reliable, social or practical support opportunities are available on weekdays, weekly or every other week, between 9.30am and 4.30pm (except bank holidays).

A Better Life Social Wellbeing opportunities are available in and around: Quedgeley, Hardwicke, Elmore, Longney, Epney, Arlingham, Whitminster, Frampton-on-Severn, Slimbridge, Wotton, Cam, Dursley, Coaley, Frocester, Stonehouse, Stroud.
